A.C.A.B.

Before 1989, as there were no organized supporters group there were very few policemen on Romanian stadiums. After the Revolution, the number of Police increased, but it was still decent. It was possible to bring inside the stadium smoke bombs, bengal torches, paper serpentines, big flags and also flags with some writings as Zone Nazi. The censorship was almost none.
The situation changed once the Media turned its attention towards football fanatics. Their dirty language and their behavior, not always very civilized, became excuses for more and more abuses.

There were also a few incidents that worsened the situation: in 1997 a fire broke out in the Dinamo sector at a derby, also the destruction, over the years, of a few buses, and the racist attacks against Rapid fans (All these incidents were given very much space by the Press, which accused the Ultras of being poor, uneducated, criminals).
Because of this great interest that the Press showed the “football violence”, it even became a discussion point for the Romanian Parliament.

Instead of going after the real criminals the Romanian Internal Affairs Ministry made its proud and glory from simply taking out the entire ultra’ movement.
Over the years, the situation became worse and worse: the number of Police troops increased to unbelievable numbers, and so did the number of their abuses.
To try to make a list of all of them would be an impossible task, but we think there is not an ultras in the whole of Romania not to have been victim or witness to a Police abuse.

Inside the Romanian stadiums, the Constitution, the Constitution, the National laws and the Human Rights have no value. They need no witness or proof to fine or to arrest you, they need no reason to beat you up…

They banned bengals, they censor every message that they do not understand, they confiscate entire choreographies, flags and even scarves, with absolutely no explanation. They evicted an ultra’ group from the stadium, just because using a dirty language…They use tear gases on the crowds. They arrest people for a serpentine or for lighting a torch… and after all these, if a riot should happen guess who will be blamed for it!

A recent and greatest abuse happened on 1 September 2002 when 4 ultras of Steaua, coming back from Craiova, have been shot by Police. The one with the worst wounds (on the face and neck) was just taking photos of Policemen beating the Ultras…this is how the Police understands “to serve and protect”.

And this is how the police learn how to beat up the ultras(the photos are from a police training exercise) :

Stop the human brutes called policeman!
